Our Swimming Programs

Ages 1 to 2...

Family & Fins 1
The primary objective is water adjustment. Parental accompaniment is required. A familiar face, touch, and praise play a vital role for building a foundation for being comfortable in the water. Important water safety skills are introduced to the student and to the parent.



Ages 2 to 3...

Family & Fins 2
Same as above. Students and their parents polish basic skills from Family and Fins 1 and work with their instructor on advanced skills in preparation for a class without a parent in the water.



Ages 2 1/2 to 3...

Squirt
(Must be placed by a Family and Fins instructor). All participants work independently, polishing skills learned in Family and Fins 2. Students work on safety skills and advanced movement through the water.



Age 3...

Turtle. Beginners age 3. Class participants work independently. The primary emphasis is on water adjustment and safety skills with eventual progression to stroke development.

Tadpole. Swimmers 3 years old with experience in the water. Participants work independently and polish safety skills learned in Turtle. Introduction to basic stroke development.



Ages 4 to 5...

Platypus. Beginners, ages 4-5. Primary emphasis on water adjustment and safety skills with eventual progression to stroke development.

Penguin 1. Intermediate, ages 4-5. Polish skills learned in Platypus. Emphasis on stroke development for front crawl and backstroke.

Penguin 2 Advanced intermediate, ages 4-5. Polish skills learned in Penguin 1. Swimmers begin to get technical with front crawl and backstroke. Emphasis on side-breathing, proper pulls, body positioning, and endurance.

Porpoise. Advanced, ages 4-5. Front crawl and backstroke are refined, and strokes are performed with endurance. Introduction to breaststroke. Swimmers learn rules of safe diving.



Age 6 and up...

Level 1. Primary emphasis is on water adjustment and safety skills, with progression to stroke development.

Level 2. Participants build on skills taught in Level 1. Introduction to front crawl and backstroke. Swimmers learn rules of safe diving and begin diving techniques.

Level 3. Emphasis on building confidence and improving strokes learned in Levels 1 and 2. Introduction to breaststroke and butterfly.



Swim Team

A competitive program for girls and boys ages 4 to 14. All strokes emphasized according to age. Particular concentration on fine-tuning strokes and developing endurance.
